The Sacraments are effective signs of God's grace. They were instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, and are the way divine life is dispensed to us. The visible rites by which the sacraments are celebrated signify and make present the grace proper to each sacrament.
There are seven sacraments in the Church: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony and Holy Orders. The whole liturgical life of the Church revolves around the seven sacraments.
